Free NHS MenB vaccination for eligible young people

Rexall Chemist is offering free NHS meningococcal B—MenB—vaccinations to eligible young people as part of the time-limited 2026 vaccination programme.

MenB can cause serious illnesses, including meningitis and septicaemia. Vaccination helps protect against most strains of meningococcal group B bacteria.

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for the free NHS MenB vaccination if you are:

• aged 17 or 18 and were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008
• born on or after 21 July 2001 and starting university as an undergraduate for the first time in autumn 2026
• born on or after 21 July 2001 and entering eligible residential further education accommodation for the first time in autumn 2026

International students and students arriving from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man may also be eligible when attending an eligible setting in England.

Students entering university or residential further education should bring evidence of their university or college offer to their appointment.

How many vaccinations are needed?

The MenB vaccination course consists of 2 doses.

The second dose must be given at least 4 weeks—28 days—after the first dose. You should receive your first dose as soon as possible so that both vaccinations can be completed before the academic year begins.

How to book

Eligible Year 13 students can book through the NHS national booking service.

Eligible university and residential further education students can contact or visit a participating pharmacy to arrange their vaccination.
